Bulkheads

A bulkhead is a retaining wall whose function is to prevent the shoreline erosion. There are a few material options available for bulkhead construction depending on the property’s requirements and proximity to open water.

Rip Rap (Stone Revetment)

A form of shoreline protection which uses large stones to guard vulnerable shorelines susceptible to problems with erosion from wave currents and/or heavy storms. Each revetment is designed using the industry’s best practices, with the property’s unique characteristics in mind.

Living Shorelines

Another form of shoreline protection is a living shoreline in which a combination of materials are used in conjunction to defend shorelines from powerful wave action and heavy storms, while providing a more natural aesthetic – due in part to the use of native marsh plants. The added benefit to this type of fortification is creating a small scale habitat for native aquatic species.

Boat Lifts

Aside from industry standard sizes and applications, we will work with you and the manufacturer to deliver a high-quality lift that meets and exceeds your requirements. Not only are we Maryland’s authorized distributor/installer of Neptune Boat Lifts*, we can also provide alternate options that will meet your needs and maximize project affordability.

Once commonplace on Maryland waterways, boathouses provide protection to your marine vessel from the harsh elements and also added storage on your pier/dock. As permits are no longer issued for the new construction of boathouses in the state of Maryland, contact Sweitzer Marine Construction if you are looking to give the existing boathouse on your property an overhaul or a complete rebuild.
